In recent years businesses have been adopting various models for employment relationship with workers. From traditional full-time employees to part time, contractual and task-based arrangements are being adopted to drive most value for business and give most flexibility and work life balance to workers. Also known as freelancers or independent contractors, more and more workers are choosing to work independently allowing them to work on their own terms.
In addition to workers desire for more flexible work arrangements, uncertain economic conditions and fast changing market conditions also require businesses/employers to adopt practices that allow them to hire and let go workers as business picks up or slows down. Many businesses have seasonal and cyclic nature that requires them to hire and let go workers based on seasons or unplanned events such as natural disasters. Therefore, flexible arrangements work both for workers and their employers. As a result of uncertain market conditions, businesses specially in housing, manufacturing, retail and service industry have lot of worker turnover requiring them to hire and retrain new workers at regular intervals. There is significant overhead with traditional hiring process, time needed to onboard and retrain the new hires, coupled with challenges of hiring and retaining right talent, create significant obstacles in converting the investment in workforce into a value add proposition.
|For businesses, it is important they find enough right talent at right place. An employer may find abundance of workers of particular skills in one location and scarcity of workers of different skills at same place. Also demand for workers may suddenly increase or decrease in certain regions because of local event or conditions. For businesses, It is important to have visibility to availability of talent in region of interest. Accordingly, there is a need for new and improved systems, methods and devices that will enable employers to create a private talent network made up of fully functional independent networks specific to a business segment and/or a business site (subnetworks). A business, business segment or site can build the network by inviting current and former workers or contractors to join the network.|
